Vizwoz Safety Guide
There's no escaping the internet these days, and who would want to when it is so much fun!
But just like real life it can all go wrong if you meet the wrong people. So we've put together some helpful tips on how you can stay safe online!
You've probably heard that you shouldn't give out your personal information; but it is the most important thing you can do to keep yourself safe.
It only takes a few bits of information for someone to find you, and for this reason you should never:
- Tell someone what school you go to
- Tell someone where you live
- Tell someone your real name
- Tell someone how to contact you
When you post a message on the internet you're not just telling the person you're talking to; you're telling the whole world!
Just Say No!
Well first of all, say that you're not telling them that stuff! Even if they tell you their information, you don't know if they are telling the truth.
Remember that if you don't know them in real life then they are a stranger; and you wouldn't tell a real life stranger all that stuff, would you?
You should always tell an adult if someone is making you feel uncomfortable online. On Vizwoz we have Report buttons all over the place so you can alert the VizCops who will step in to investigate.
You probably have an email address and an instant messenger, but these should only be shared with people you know in real life, like people in your class at school.
Remember that while you are on Vizwoz, the VizCops are always on hand to protect you; but nobody is watching your email and messenger!
If somebody wants to start chatting away from where it is safe, you should ask yourself why they don't want us to see!
VizCops are here to keep you Safe!
Don't be embarrased to ask for help if you need it!
